Officials from the Shasta District Fair and Shasta Raceway Park are excited to announce
the expansion of the race track.  The expansion will increase the track to a 3/8 mile oval from its current 1/3 mile oval.  Expansion will extend the front and backstretch by 105' on each side,
and rebuild turns 3 and 4 with a progressive or compound bank.
We are very excited about this major improvement said Fairground CEO Trish Strawn.
We will be able to offer our fans a new level of racing, as the new banking in turns 3 and 4 will
allow more side by side racing.  Coupled with the new paved pit area and the return of being a
NASCAR sanctioned track, this could be one of the best years ever at the Raceway.
The Fair Board also stresses that the relocation of the bleachers is still a very high priority.
Due to cuts in State funds the bleacher relocation is on hold at this time.  The funds for track
expansion were not State funded.
Due to expansion of the track the General Manager, George Wade is shooting for
opening the new Shasta Raceway Park facility on May 1, 2004.
